From the city of Farmers Branch…
Brother Eddy passes away at home
The city of Farmers Branch has lost a vibrant leader, devoted servant and passionate man of faith in Brother Eddy Ketchersid. Monday night, he died in peace at home, surrounded by his family. At a City Council meeting three months ago, Mayor Bill Glancy declared February 7, 2023 as honorary Brother Eddy Day in Farmers Branch. During the meeting, the Council played THIS VIDEO TRIBUTE provided by his church. Bro. Eddy served as the City’s honorary Chaplain for 23 years, leading the invocation at City Council meetings from 1996 to 2019. He was twice recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce. He served as the Pastor of The Branch Church for 34 years.  In January of 1988, The Branch Church hired him as Senior Pastor. Bro Eddy and his wife Verlen came from Houston after a fruitful 30-year ministry there. Within seven months of his assuming the new position, the Church opened the doors to its new structure on Valley View Lane. Under his leadership, The Branch Church flourished, eventually opening a second campus in Carrollton in 2007. Brother Eddy announced his retirement from The Branch Church in September last year. He is survived by his wife Verlen, sons Tim and John Ketchersid as well as daughters Elizabeth Denn, Karla Kindeberg and Vivian Smith.
